This is Your Plum Island Retreat... |
| |
Our Plum Island home is waiting for
you. It is the ocean retreat that time
forgot: quiet, low-key, and gorgeous.
The house is a three bedroom with an
additional sleeping porch. The bright,
open layout of the living room, dining
room, and kitchen lends itself to the
warm, ocean atmosphere. The wrap-around
deck offers the best view across the
windswept dunes to the Merrimac River's
outlet into the crashing Atlantic. There
are always sailboats and kites on the
horizon to complete the tranquil scene.
Plum Island, located just North of
Gloucester and one hour from Boston by
car or train, contains homes only on a
mile and a half of the northern end - no
hotels or high-rises allowed. The
remaining 10 miles comprise the pristine
Parker Wildlife Reserve --- famous
with birders worldwide. The beaches are
always wide-open, clean, and welcoming
with some life guarded areas during July
and August.
Newburyport, 4 miles away across the
causeway, is a charming, historic harbor
town filled with fine restaurants,
bookstores, an independent movie
theater, and live music. Day trips can
include whale-watching, a day in Boston,
LL Bean outlets just over the border
in Maine, or a day with the Salem
witches. Biking is recommended with many
spectacular possibilities.
The 3 upstairs bedrooms hold a queen
sized bed in one, two twin beds in the
2nd, and one twin bed in the last. The
porch has a double bed futon. Each room
has a fan and the master bedroom has an
air-conditioner. You provide your own
sheets and towels. There are plenty of
blankets and pillows there. There is a
small TV/VCR unit (no TV reception) and
a stereo/CD player. |
